Darlene Fadem…Professional Label Hunter

Posted on by darlene      No Comments

That’s what my husband calls me… among other things, all good of course. :) He’s right though. When I discovered my first high end label at a thrift store…Dolce & Gabbana…brand new with tags…I was hooked! There is nothing like “the high” you experience when you find that “treasure”… and the thrill of the hunt…well, I’m seriously addicted to it.

My recent trip to Thrift Town was no different, except there was a 50% off all clothing sale going on…yay!

Within the first 5 minutes I found my biggest score of the day:

This EXPRESS suede and faux fur vest for only $7.99! It retails for well over $100.00! Want to know how I came across it so quickly? Well, Thrift Town has signs directing you to their “Better Clothing”. Thank You Thrift Town for making my “treasure hunt” easier.

I’d been hunting for another pair of jeans and/or corduroys for quite awhile and had never found anything I liked until now…check these out:

Those are Chico’s ( the Parent Company of my favorite store…White House Black Market) Platinum Ultimate Fit Boot Leg Jeans and I only paid $6.49!( retail: $89.00) I don’t think they have ever been worn either! Those super cute shoes? Nine West hair calf brown loafers, brand new no less, for $9.99 ( retail: $80.00 ) Unbelievable!

I took those jeans and shoes and styled two cute looks for you…

Look #1

This look features a pale yellow J Crew cardigan $3.99 ( retail: $65.00 ) over a Foxcroft pale pink with white polka dots no-iron shirt $4.99 ( retail: $80.00 ) Pastels are a huge trend right now, though not my personal favorite.

Oops…forgot an accessory

It’s Miss Oreo! ;)

Look#2

I love, love, love this look! I can’t seem to get enough animal print. I might have a problem…

This is a Jones New York Signature ( sold at Macy’s) leopard print blouse that was only $3.99 because of the 50% off sale. ( retail: $69.00 )

I paired it with the EXPRESS suede and faux fur vest and took the look outside:

We had “freezing fog” today…never heard of that until I moved to New Mexico! This vest kept me nice and warm.

The total cost of all these high end/ name brand clothes was a mere $45.44 at Thrift Town. The retail cost if I was to buy them at a department store…$501.00!! O.M.G! There is no way I would ever spend that much on 5 articles of clothing and 1 pair of shoes, and neither should you!

Each and every Monday= 30% off clothing for Seniors 60+

Darlene Fadem is a wife and mother with two sons in college. She’s OBVIOUSLY over 50, hence the name Thrifty Over 50. She admits to being a label hunter when thrifting, but pleads the fifth to everything else. ;) When she’s not thrifting she is teaching five year olds how to read, write and be fashionable!
