DIY Mirror Art
MIRROR, MIRROR ON THE WALL…
Or the desk. Or the lamp. Or, or or. My friend Ashley sent me the link to something amazing that may just change my entire little DIY loving world. Ready for it?
MIRROR. PAINT.
If you’re a Thrift Town Blog regular, you might remember our post about the chalkboard paint (that is also amazing). Concept: paint a chalkboard surface onto anything. My brain can barely handle the possibilities of chalky goodness. And now, we have the same concept but in mirror form! Imagine being able to paint a mirror-like surface onto anything you want - AAH!
Unlike the chalkboard paint, it was really hard to find pictures of mirror paint projects - I think it’s such a new product that the DIY world hasn’t jumped all over it yet… but here’s your chance to beat out everyone on the coolest new thing! I found the above picture, and thought it was just a good example of something you could do, even though the mirror paint wasn’t used in this particular instance. SO cute, right?
The paint doesn’t create a true mirror, in the sense that it will probably be a bit distorted, but I started thinking… if it’s just like regular paint, and you can put it on anything - then the sky’s the limits! Not just walls, but objects too. Be able to turn ordinary thrifted items into matching gorgeous mirrored sets. And what about stencils?
Here’s a great DIY blog post where someone took glass table-top pieces and turned them into cool mirrored panels.
There’s a number of places online you can find the paint, but we found it here on the Krylon Site.
Here’s another example of changing a leaded window into a gorgeous mirror!
I can’t wait to go out & start mirror DIY-ing the heck out of my house - Hope you’re inspired! Happy Thrifting + mirroring! - Kari
